We are seeking an experienced Housing specialist with strong technical expertise in NEC Housing and associated systems. This position requires supporting and evolving Birmingham City Councils critical Housing and Property applications as part of the Digital & Technology Services (DTS) Applications team. You will take ownership of a portfolio of business‑critical systems, ensuring they remain stable, secure and aligned to business needs.
Responsibilities
* Provide practitioner‑level application support for Housing and Property systems (e.g., NEC Housing, Civica DM360, etc.).
* Diagnose and resolve complex application and integration issues to maintain system stability, performance and resilience.
* Support and maintain integrations between systems, including batch processing, data flows and interface management.
* Lead troubleshooting of high‑impact incidents and act as a point of escalation within the team.
* Contribute to application upgrades, configuration changes and continuous service improvement activities.
* Collaborate with business stakeholders, suppliers and technical teams to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
* Mentor less experienced colleagues and contribute to internal capability development.
* Ensure applications meet security, data protection and audit requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
* Proven experience supporting NEC Housing in a complex environment.
* Strong SQL skills, including scripting, reporting and data analysis.
* Experience supporting integrated application landscapes, including troubleshooting interfaces and data flows.
* Experience with document management or workflow systems such as Civica DM360.
* Ability to resolve complex technical issues and identify root cause in a live support environment.
* Experience translating business stakeholder requirements into practical solutions.
* Can work independently, prioritise effectively and operate in a high‑pressure environment.
Desirable Experience
* Experience supporting Repairs, Temporary Accommodation or Allocations.
* Experience working within local government or a similarly complex organisation.
