Fair Ways is a leading children’s services charity based in the Solent, delivering Fostering, Education, Residential and Family services and cares for over 400 children, families, young people and vulnerable adults each year. Fair Ways is a great place to work. We are a team. We care about each other and are all committed to making a change to the lives of the young people and service users in our care.

Fair Ways is committed to fostering a trauma informed therapeutic culture that makes a positive difference. To support that commitment, we are looking for a confident, professional and pro-active Speech and Language Therapist to join our Therapeutic Hub. As a Speech and Language Therapist at Fair Ways you will work as part of Fair Ways Therapeutic Hub providing Speech and Language Therapy (SALT) across the charity utilising professional understanding and experience to recognise the communication differences of young people within Fair Ways and to implement strategies as part of our trauma informed approach.

Responsibilities

* Working as a trauma informed professional – support a trauma informed approach, developing a Team-around-the-Relationship approach to service delivery. This allows front line staff and those we care for to feel safe, develop relationships, learn to be co-regulated and develop understanding around emotions.
* Undertaking Assessments – be creative in completing assessments to identify the most appropriate pathways meeting with those we support and their networks in order to clearly formulate the needs of the young person and communicate Hub recommendations to their wider network.
* Clinical Knowledge / Outcomes – demonstrate research and critical appraisal skills, be conversant with Fair Ways policies and procedures and use evidence to support clinical decision-making, including routine outcome measures and staying up to date with best practice. Commit to personal and professional development through supervision, training and ongoing learning opportunities.
* Managing Risk – contribute to risk assessments and management plans, provide cover of the duty system, and support incoming queries from our services to help young people feel safe in developing relationships and accessing further therapeutic intervention.
* Intervention / Caseload Management – manage a caseload of young people with complex needs, create and review care plans in line with the Hub Pathways, and oversee communication interventions across the charity.
* Training – deliver training and consultation to Fair Ways staff on SALT strategies and interventions to meet the communication needs of children and young people across the charity.

Qualifications and experience

* Essential: Core professional qualification and registration with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) and current registration with HCPC.
* Experience in SALT, general mental health assessments and autonomous caseload management.
* Experience liaising across health, education and social care.
* Desirable: Interest in developing knowledge in complex trauma and sensory integration.

Details

This role is 37.5 hours per week. Part-time applications from a minimum 22.5 hours per week could be considered. The role is hybrid with 1 day per week in the Hub office and the rest in relevant services. A full driving license and access to a car are required. An enhanced DBS check is required; the cost will be met by Fair Ways.

Benefits

* Exciting opportunities and staff recognition programs.
* Work-life balance with holiday accrual, wellbeing days, and holiday purchase options.

* Growth and development opportunities including education grants and leadership courses.
