The Pharmacy department at WUTH has an exciting opportunity for motivated pharmacists who want to be at the forefront of pharmacy service development to join our welcoming and innovative team. The post offers excellent opportunities to enhance your expertise and develop into specialist roles, including outpatient clinic support, prescribing roles, and ward rounds. Our Band 7 rotations are 6 or 12 months long and provide opportunities to experience various clinical specialties, as well as operational roles such as clinical governance, medicines management, antimicrobial stewardship, aseptics, and education and training.

1. Optimising individual patient's medicines, including supporting patient flow and antimicrobial stewardship
2. Developing a role as a key member of the multidisciplinary team
3. Supporting the training and education of junior pharmacists, trainee pharmacists, technicians, and other healthcare staff
4. Participating in formulary management and financial monitoring of drug expenditure with directorate pharmacists
5. Developing, implementing, and monitoring prescribing guidelines
6. Participating in weekend and on-call working as part of departmental rotas
Full training and an extensive CPD programme are provided, along with opportunities to attend annual conferences such as UKCPA and Clinical Pharmacy Congress.
The successful applicant will need to be self-motivated and organized, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They should have the ability to work effectively alone and as part of a team.
We are a large department, employing 95 pharmacists and 47 MMTs, delivering services to the acute hospital and PCN. High-quality, proactive input is expected from our clinicians, nursing staff, and patients; over half of our pharmacists are independent prescribers, actively using this qualification to prescribe for patients on wards, clinics, and in the PCN.
