The role
* The PwC Actuarial practice comprises over partners and staff. With offices in London, Edinburgh, Manchester, Bristol, and Mumbai, our consultants focus on non-life, life, banking, and non-insurance. We play a leading role in the actuarial community worldwide and often collaborate with specialists from other disciplines within PwC.
* Our team advises clients in the general insurance and non-insurance industries on business risks and regulatory updates, developing risk analysis and mathematical models to enhance forecasting, limit risks, and inform strategic decisions.
* Our practice is market-leading in the General Insurance space, serving a diverse range of clients including global reinsurers, Lloyd’s & London Market, UK & European Personal & Commercial lines, and Reinsurance Market players.
What your days will look like:
* Providing advice on solvency, economic capital, risk management, mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, financial modelling, and reporting processes.
* Contributing to general insurance advice and consulting services for clients such as insurers, regulators, private equity, and related companies.
* Supporting the growth of our Risk & Capital proposition in response to client challenges and regulatory changes.
* Working as part of a team to solve complex business issues, managing multiple assignments, and interacting directly with clients.
* Participating in strategic management and development of the practice, including core product areas and training programs.
* Mentoring and developing junior staff through coaching, mentoring, and acting as a career guide.
This role is for you if:
* You have a good understanding of capital modelling, risk management techniques, and key market issues. Ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly to senior management is essential.
* Experience across wider offerings like Catastrophe Risk, Reserving & Pricing, Deals, IFRS17, Audit, etc., and emerging areas like Cyber, Climate, ESG, is advantageous.
* You have experience in risk and capital modelling, model development, validation, and a strong understanding of insurance risks.
* Experience with Solvency II internal models, risk management software (e.g., Igloo, ReMetrica, Tyche), and regulatory relationships is beneficial.
