We currently have an exciting role for a Health and Safety Manager providing an excellent opportunity to join the Moran Logistics team at our Leeds site with travel to our other sites around the country. The role works days, working 40 hours per week and offers excellent rates of pay.
About the Role:
To advise line managers at all levels on all health, safety, and welfare matters.
Be the key business conduit to ensure it operates within its legal and compliant health and safety responsibilities.
To prevent accidents, incidents, and work-related illness.
Keep everyone internally/externally safe when operating in any Moran facilities, out bases or customer locations.
Ensure Moran warehouse locations continually exceed the necessary BRCGS standards.
As the Health and Safety Manager, you will:
Actively monitor workplace safety in all locations in line with HSE legislation and guidelines.
Ensure all processes/risks are appropriately validated and documented.
Ensure any RIDDOR related incidents are followed up immediately and escalated accordingly.
Ensure all work areas are free from hazardous substances or any risk areas are identified, and appropriate actions are taken.
Promote strong near miss culture.
Ensure frequent audits of operations to ensure compliance with risk assessments and safe systems of work.
Ensure full compliance with business health, safety and wellbeing policy.
Own and regularly review BCP disaster recovery plan.
Ensure business complies with responsibilities around the relevant fire safety and first aid regulations.
Ensure all collection and delivery locations have risk assessments in place and that they are regularly reviewed.
Reporting and trending accidents, incidents, unsafe occurrences and near misses.
Ensure all Moran and hire equipment is fit for purpose and maintained in line with PUWER regulations.
Ensure escalation of all major incidents and take ownership of getting to route cause and creating plans to avoid reoccurrences.
Own insurance agenda and proactively work with operations on trends to reduce risk.
Chair regular H&S forums, ensuring senior team participation and strong follow up action plans.
Ensure PPE is both provided and appropriate to protect colleagues.
Ensure all colleagues are sufficiently trained to undertake all activities and training records are regularly reviewed.
Ensure all waste streams are reviewed and segregation/disposal is in line with legal expectations.
Monitor existing and new H&S legislation/regulation to ensure that business is setup appropriately and responds to change accordingly.
To attend and represent Moran at all customer safety forums, playing a part to shape strategy and ensure compliance with customers safety agenda.
Flexibility and Ad-Hoc:
To be flexible to work on a variety of duties and locations as required.
To carry out any other task that is reasonable and within your skill set as business needs dictate.
Audit all sites every 6 months.
What we are looking for:
At least 10 years Health and Safety experience.
Multi site safety management experience.
Transport and warehouse experience.
Chilled food and transport experience preferable.
Active member of IOSH or other accreddiated body preferable.
High standards.
Ability to identify risk and erradicate it.
Ability to work in highly pressurised environment.
Exceptional knowledge of environmental, H&S regulatory and legal frameworks.
Organised methodical approach.
Ensure confidentiality at all times.
Excellent communication skills with ability to articulate both verbally and in written word.
Strong team player.
