Are you an engineer who knows how to navigate the DNO maze?
Do you take pride in finding smarter, faster, and more cost-effective grid connections?
We’re supporting a leading developer at the forefront of the UK’s energy transition, delivering large-scale EV charging and renewable energy infrastructure across the country.
They’re looking for a Grid Connections Engineer to join their Pre-Construction team, overseeing all aspects of grid connections from application to energisation.
This is a key technical role that bridges the gap between design, delivery, and the DNOs; perfect for someone who enjoys problem-solving, stakeholder management, and getting projects moving.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Lead the grid connection process from initial feasibility to on-site delivery.
* Liaise directly with DNOs, IDNOs, and ICPs, interpreting, challenging, and negotiating connection offers.
* Prepare and submit G99 applications and support design teams with network input.
* Review SLDs (single-line diagrams) and technical documentation to ensure compliance and efficiency.
* Advise on connection strategies, balancing capacity, cost, and delivery timelines.
* Support construction teams during energisation, ensuring DNO requirements are met.
What We’re Looking For
* Background in power networks, grid connections, or electrical infrastructure.
* Experience working with or for a DNO, IDNO, ICP, or developer.
* Strong understanding of G99 applications, connection offers, and DNO processes.
* Confidence reviewing technical drawings and connection studies.
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
* Engineering qualification (HNC / HND / Degree) in Electrical or Power Engineering.
