With a strong focus on professional development, they foster an environment where continuous learning and career growth are encouraged.\n\nWith a diverse team operating in a newly refurbished office, over the last 5 years the company has transformed themselves into a company that can support clients throughout the full life cycle of their projects, from survey and design, through to engineering.\n\nJob Title: Lead Utility Surveyor \nLocation: Nationwide\nSalary: £34-38k\nHours: Full Time – Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Midweek and weekend overtime available)\n\nAbout the role\n\nWe’re looking for a highly skilled and motivated Lead Utility Surveyor to join our growing team within the rail industry. In this key role, you will lead a team of utility surveyors, ensuring the accurate location, mapping, and documentation of underground utilities in compliance with PAS 128 standards.\n\nYou will be responsible for overseeing and conducting utility detection surveys using advanced techniques such as Ground-Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Electromagnetic Locators (EML).
Collaborating closely with engineers, designers, and project managers, you’ll provide critical technical input throughout the project lifecycle. Your leadership and technical expertise will be essential in delivering high-quality, compliant survey outputs that support the successful planning and execution of rail infrastructure projects.\n\nBenefits:\n\nFlexible working\nCompany vehicle with fuel card.\nAccommodation and food subsistence allowance\n36 days holiday (inc BH)\n3 standdown days per year\nGym membership\nGenerous bonus structure\nGroup Life Assurance\nOvertime and weekend pay\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nLead the planning, coordination, and execution of utility surveys in accordance with PAS 128 standards.\nAccurately locate, identify, and map underground utilities (e.g., gas, water, telecoms, electricity) using techniques such as Ground-Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Electromagnetic Location (EML) equipment.\nInterpret utility records and on-site findings to produce comprehensive and compliant survey documentation.\nOversee the production of detailed utility survey drawings and reports, ensuring high-quality outputs aligned with client and industry specifications.\nPerform QA/QC reviews on survey data and drawings to guarantee accuracy and compliance with PAS 128 methodologies.\nProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior surveyors and field teams.\nLiaise with clients, contractors, and project managers to understand project requirements and deliverables.\nEnsure all work is carried out safely, in compliance with health and safety regulations and best practices.\nConduct site risk assessments and contribute to method statements prior to survey commencement.\nStay current with industry developments, new technologies, and survey best practices, recommending improvements to internal processes.\nAbout You:\n\nProven experience in surveying, preferably within the rail or construction industries.\nStrong knowledge of survey equipment, techniques, and software.\nAbility to lead teams and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.\nExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.\nProactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.\nValid driving license and willingness to travel to various project sites nationwide.\nWhat next?\n\nFor more information about this exciting opportunity, simply click the Apply Now button.
