We're looking for an HSW Technical Governance Advisor to help strengthen our health, safety and well-being governance across the organisation. In this influential role, you'll provide expert technical advice, lead assurance activities, and support investigations into significant incidents and asset or process failures. You'll play a key part in maintaining high‑quality HSW standards, ensuring our systems meet legislation, industry best practice, and wider organisational needs.
Responsibilities
* Maintain and improve HSW standards, procedures, and technical documents.
* Offer expert guidance on complex risk topics and technical safety issues.
* Coach colleagues, facilitate learning reviews, and champion just culture and psychological safety.
* Build strong relationships with operations, engineering, projects, and regulators.
* Drive continuous improvement in systems, controls, and organisational learning.
* Support the HSW Assurance Manager and wider HSW Team with matters of major accident hazard procedural control and site practice.
* Support the wider HSW team in the diligent completion of incidents of significant potential.
* Provide technical interpretations of standards and regulatory requirements to the HSW Team and operational leaders.
Qualifications
* Full UK driving licence.
* Significant experience in health & safety, process/technical safety, asset integrity, or similar.
* Strong investigation and assurance skills, with experience in audit or governance roles.
* Excellent understanding of HSW legislation and industry good practice.
* Ability to communicate complex technical risk clearly and influence at all levels.
* Calm, pragmatic, collaborative approach with strong analytical skills.
* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6/7 qualification.
* Recognised investigation training (e.g., ICAM, TapRooT, 5‑Why).
* Chartered status (e.g., CMIOSH/CEng).
