An excellent opportunity has become available for a Mobile Vehicle Tail Lift Engineer covering the Essex or Suffolk/Norfolk area.
This role is suitable for an experienced Transport Tail Lift Engineer, though consideration will also be given to experienced Motor Vehicle Technicians interested in entering the Transport Tail Lift Industry.
Reporting to the Regional Business Manager, you will be part of a team of Mobile Tail Lift Engineers. Your main focus will be the maintenance and repair of equipment used on large distribution vehicles. Providing high levels of customer care is essential for our business success and employee satisfaction. Your responsibilities include:
Duties and Responsibilities
* Installation, servicing, and repair of tail lifts, double decks, VBG, shutter door equipment, with a focus on cost control and revenue maximization.
* Managing van stock to ensure excellent service delivery.
* Performing daily safety checks on company vans.
* Maintaining knowledge of product and customer requirements to adhere to ISO9002 standards.
* Communicating effectively with central control regarding job statuses, downtime, overtime, costs, and purchase orders.
* Completing all necessary paperwork and online (PDA) updates for invoicing and customer communication.
* Assisting with planning, installation, and commissioning of equipment.
* Following company procedures, health & safety protocols, and ISO standards.
* Supervising apprentices and Engineers in Training where applicable.
* Prioritizing customer service and maintaining professional appearance and tools.
* Promoting business growth with existing and potential customers.
* Providing technical support to customers and colleagues.
* Participating in training and self-development activities, including manufacturer courses and online learning.
* Performing additional duties as required.
Experience:
* Extensive experience as a Tail Lift/Commercial Engineer.
* Knowledge of electro-mechanical systems, engines, compressors, and hydraulics.
* Ability to work independently safely and professionally, maintaining units and company property.
Education / Certification:
* GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English.
* Experience in hydraulics repair/diagnostics.
* Welding certification, STE/Weight Test Certification.
* NVQ Level in hydraulics/electrics or equivalent experience.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with handheld devices.
Additional Information
* UK driving license required.
* Travel involved; van and tools supplied, along with a fuel card and accommodation allowances for overnight stays.
* Physical fitness required; participation in on-call duties, overtime, night, and weekend work as needed.
