Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Master to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our vessels, including ship handling, crew management, and compliance with all relevant maritime legislation and company procedures.
Key Responsibilities
1. Overall command of the vessel during assigned rotations
2. Berthing, unberthing, and safe ship handling of Ro-Pax catamaran vessels
3. Ensuring full compliance with UK maritime laws and regulations
4. Implementation and adherence to the Pentland Ferries Safety Management System (SMS)
5. Management, leadership, and oversight of the onboard crew
6. Navigational planning, operational readiness, and maintenance oversight
7. Maintaining high standards of safety, passenger care, and operational efficiency
Essential Requirements
8. STCW Master Certificate of Competency (3000GT or above)
9. Valid ENG1 medical certificate
10. All other STCW and mandatory certifications required for a Passenger Vessel Master
11. Excellent knowledge of maritime safety and compliance requirements
12. Proven leadership skills and ability to manage a multi-disciplinary crew
Desirable Experience
13. Prior experience in ship handling
14. Previous service as Master or Chief Officer on passenger vessels
