Our mission is to create a safer, greener future by combining technical expertise with a proactive approach to health, safety, environment and quality (SHEQ).We're looking for a Head of SHEQ with proven experience across the social housing, energy efficiency, and low-carbon/renewables sectors to join our business in Bathgate.Job PurposeYou will lead SHEQ across SES UK, aligning strategy, planning and resources with business objectives, reporting to the Managing Director and holding overall accountability for performance across all business units.You will act as the senior point of contact for regulators including HSE and SEPA, setting the SHEQ direction and driving a culture of continuous improvement and proactive risk management.You will develop and maintain robust SHEQ systems (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 50001), ensuring full compliance with legislation and standards.In addition, you will lead the SHEQ function, deliver a structured change programme, embed best practice across operational teams, and ensure consistent training.
Success will be measured through SHEQ performance, compliance, and cultural improvement.Strategic Leadership Define and lead the SHEQ strategy across the businessDeliver a transformational change programme, driving continuous improvement and proactive risk managementChampion behavioural safety and cultural improvement initiativesGovernance & Compliance Act as the senior point of contact for all SHEQ mattersEnsure robust risk management, incident investigation and reporting processesLead on compliance with ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and 50001Maintain strong relationships with regulators including HSE, SEPA, and the Environment AgencyAudi & Assurance Oversee internal audits across sites and operationsReport SHEQ performance to senior leadership and GroupDrive actions through to completion and maintain all key accreditations (CHAS, Constructionline, etc.)Leadership & Capability Lead and develop the SHEQ teamEnsure consistent, high-quality training across the businessDeliver coaching, toolbox talks and embed best practice at all levelsOperational Support Partner with operational teams to achieve full compliance across programmes and projectsSupport delivery against technical standards including MCS, PAS2030, PAS2035, Gas Safe and NICEICEnsure robust planning documentation (CPPs, RAMS) is in place and effectiveEssential Skills & Experience NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)IOSH (Graduate or above)Proven experience in a senior SHEQ leadership roleStrong working knowledge of ISO standards and UK legislation (including CDM 2015 and Building Safety Act)Experience operating in complex, multi-site environmentsDesirable Environmental or Quality qualifications (IEMA, IRCA, NEBOSH Environmental)Experience supporting industry awards (RoSPA, British Safety Council)What we offer: Base salary up to 70k10% Car allowance29 days annual leave (includes statutory bank holidays and Christmas/New Year closure).Employer-contributed pension schemeEnhanced Maternity/Paternity leave, Flexible Benefits (Bike to Work, Health Shield care plan), and Employee Assistance Program.Diversity and Inclusion at Sureserve Energy Services UKSureserve is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, deeply committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment.
