Job Description
As a Sunday Assistant you will run the store independently, taking responsibility for daily operations, customer engagement, stock management, volunteer coordination and ensuring compliance with Marie Curie procedures.
* Run the store and ensure efficient daily operations.
* Maximise sales by maintaining high standard displays, proper stock rotation and realistic pricing on donated items.
* Process donated goods according to set standards and timeframes, pricing in line with charity guidelines.
* Maximise Gift Aid income and oversee the display and administration of bought‑in goods, minimizing stock loss.
* Engage customers, coach volunteers and staff to encourage additional donations and loyalty scheme sign‑ups.
* Engage with the community to drive repeat custom, stock donation, volunteer recruitment and community involvement.
* Manage volunteers and ensure all staff and volunteers follow Marie Curie procedures and guidelines.
Key Criteria
* Previous retail experience, preferably in fashion/clothing.
* Experience of cash handling and financial management procedures (including completion of sales records).
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer‑first attitude and ability to communicate with tact and discretion.
* Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
* Good organisational skills and prioritisation of workload.
* Understanding of health and safety procedures in a retail environment.
* Experience in managing and motivating volunteers is desirable.
