Data Engineer/Modeller Remote with Travel to Crawley for team meetings Summary We are looking for a Data Engineer with a strong hands-on technical background to integrate into our expanding Digital and Data Function. The Data Engineer role forms part of the growing data organisation focusing on delivering the vision of the UK Chief data officer. The Data Engineer will work with the rest of the Data Management Team to produce high quality data products for Thales UK businesses and Functions. The Engineer will work with different levels of the UK organisation, integrated into an Agile delivery team delivering exciting data outputs. The successful applicant will join a rapidly growing team in an expanding and high profile Thales function. Role Responsibilities To develop and deliver Data Engineering and Data Integration from Thales sources into a central warehouse environment. Following the defined data engineering strategy and architecture for the business which meets function and enterprise needs. Deliver data integration that enables data to be consumed and analysed for multiple applications and via multiple interfaces. To design, develop, maintain, and manage the ETL solutions consisting of data exchange process models, ETL specifications and underlying the ETL code base. Plan and estimate data engineering tasks working as part of the assigned agile squad. Take a high level view of Data Engineering requirements and Data roadmaps Skills Define data extract, transformation and load routines as necessary to support requirements, in the form of a design specification Knowledge in user experience modelling, information design, and concept generation Understanding of meta models, taxonomies, ontologies, and challenges of applying structured techniques (data modelling) to less-structured sources Knowledge of BI, analytics, and reporting toolsets. Data warehouse, data marts, and ETL hands on experience. IBM Data stage knowledge and experience. Data quality, reference, and metadata Enterprise data models and data governance Content and knowledge management Knowledge of Data Warehousing/dimensional modelling concepts Knowledge of Data Quality concepts and frameworks Design, Development, unit testing, support, coordination of tasks and resources related to applications service/product areas. Engage in business requirements, impact analysis and related estimates and subsequent planning definition Role Experience More than five years of experience in data integration with experience as Data Engineer delivering integrated data models. Hands on experience of SQL scripting and developing ETL routines. Hands-on experience with implementing and delivering data and analytics management programs Experience with the IBM information server suite of products would be a benefit Experience of data integration from Oracle Ebusiness suite would be a bonus. Good all round knowledge of applications used in key business functions (PLM, ERP, PMO tools, reporting Platforms, etc.) In line with Thales' Baseline Security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment and/or education history for up to three years.
