The Head of Community at The Theatre Chipping Norton role leads on engagement with our community, identification of need and helps to create programmes to meet it. It therefore has the unique opportunity to make connections and to create support that will have lasting and life changing impacts.
The role is suitable for candidates with strong professional experience in community arts and social impact work. We are looking for someone who is passionate about the arts, and their capacity to effect positive change in people's lives.
The position can be part time or full time, depending on your preference, but would require between 21 and 35 hours of work a week. Some flexibility is required to attend Take Part events which may sometimes be during evenings and weekends.
As the post involves working with young and vulnerable people in the community, the post holder must either already hold a DBS or be prepared for the Theatre to undertake this clearance.
The primary responsibilities of the Head of Community role can be summarised as follows:
1. To lead on The Theatre's aims to reach and engage with the broadest possible cross-section of local people, responding to local need and using socially
impactful art and culture to better our community.
2. To provide and manage a range of arts and culture-based activities that support community cohesion, promote wellbeing, reduce inequality and isolation and involve members of our community in the life and programme of The Theatre.
3. To manage programmes of work that cater to support those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs,
and those experiencing economic deprivation.
4. To achieve the above by managing a range of collaborative relationships with partner organisations, local individuals and families and the wider arts and social impact sector.
5. To support The Theatre's fundraising function in making the above work viable.
The person specification essentials can be summarised as:
* Professional experience working within community arts and outreach, or another relevant field.
* Experience working with and/or supporting vulnerable people.
* A confident, enthusiastic and welcoming personality, able to take the lead when liaising with members of the public, including vulnerable people, young people and older people.
* Computer literacy (Microsoft) and acceptable levels of numeracy
* Strong personal organisation skills, including a proven track record in project planning and management.
* Driven and entrepreneurial, with a passion for the arts and community work
* Good communication skills, in particular in person and via telephone
