CONSTRUCTION MANAGER
About the Company
A award winning privately owned construction and engineering business require a Construction Manager to join the business on a permanent basis.The company designs, builds and operates a range of projects across the commercial sector.
This role will suit a proactive construction professional who is comfortable managing multiple work packages, coordinating subcontractors and maintaining programme momentum on fast-paced projects.
The Role
Reporting to the Senior Construction Manager or Project Lead, you will take ownership of construction package delivery, ensuring works are coordinated safely, efficiently and in line with programme and quality expectations.
You will act as a key interface between the project leadership team, subcontractors, suppliers and site management to ensure successful delivery through all construction phases.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee and coordinate construction packages from procurement through to completion
• Monitor programme performance and drive progress against agreed milestones
• Manage subcontractor performance including variations, time, cost and quality compliance
• Lead regular coordination and progress meetings with the supply chain
• Review specifications and inspect works to ensure quality standards are met
• Ensure material procurement and site deliveries align with project sequencing
• Liaise with commercial teams on cost tracking and subcontractor assessments
• Support production of client-facing progress reports
• Coordinate interfaces with MEP packages and other specialist contractors
• Maintain accurate reporting via internal management systems
• Identify and resolve on-site challenges through practical problem-solving
• Monitor health and safety compliance across allocated work areas
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
• Provide performance feedback to procurement and pre-construction teams
Operational Involvement
The role requires regular site presence, including travel and occasional overnight stays depending on project location. Attendance at client, design, Building Control and progress meetings will form part of the weekly routine.
Candidate Profile
• Proven experience delivering construction packages on medium to large projects
• Background in healthcare or technically complex environments advantageous
• Strong understanding of programme management and sequencing
• Commercial awareness with experience managing variations and subcontractor accounts
• Comfortable using project management and reporting software
• Confident communicator capable of working collaboratively across multiple stakeholders
• Self-sufficient with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands
