We work closely with Kids First Nurseries that are based within our trust grounds at Wansbeck, North Tyneside and Hexham hospitals to care for our Trust family's children, they offer care for children from 6 weeks old up to 4 years. Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly established and innovative team within Occupational Health and Wellbeing Services. The Vaccination Team is dedicated to improving health outcomes by increasing vaccination uptake and coverage for staff, patients and pregnant women, helping to protect communities from preventable diseases.

The successful candidate will work across Northumberland and North Tyneside on a 7-day rota, contributing to a flexible and responsive service. The team promotes a positive working culture and supports a healthy work–life balance.

The main base for this role will be North Tyneside General Hospital; however, the post holder will be required to work across the wider Trust as needed. A full UK driving licence and access to a car are essential. Applicants must also have completed their preceptorship.

Main duties of the job

The primary immunisation programme is a key public health initiative, contributing to the reduction of health inequalities and supporting the achievement of both national and local health objectives.

The post holder will support the safe and effective delivery of a large-scale vaccination programme across hospital and community settings. This includes working to improve vaccination uptake rates and contributing to the wider public health agenda by enhancing health outcomes for both staff and patients.

The role involves close collaboration with Occupational Health and Wellbeing colleagues to deliver pre-employment vaccinations and undertake immunisation assessments for staff.

The post holder will demonstrate compassionate and inclusive leadership, helping to foster a positive and collective leadership culture within the Trust. This includes adopting a consistent leadership approach that:

* uses coaching to support learning, development, and continuous quality improvement
* promotes effective teamwork and collaboration within teams, across departments, and with wider organisational partners

We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Vaccination nurse work autonomously and as part of a team, to provide a high quality service to staff and patients. They will be responsible for ensuring appropriate client safety whilst adhering to policies and procedures. To provide information to staff and patients to enable them to access the vaccination programme through informed consent.


Person specification


Qualifications

* 1st Level live NMC Registered Nurse
* Awareness of vaccination schedule and Immunisation against infectious disease: Green Book
* Mentor qualification or relevant equivalent qualification (essential requirement for this post, expectation this will be completed within an 18 month period)
* City & Guilds 730 teaching qualification or similar


Experience and Knowledge

* Experience of delivering vaccinations within hospitals and community settings


Other Requirements

* You may also need to travel between Trust premises as required for the performance of your duties. You may also be expected to work at any of the trust sites. The Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a disabled person to undertake the role.
