Position: Operations Director
The Operations Director will manage a dynamic team and oversee the smooth running of operations. This is a newly created role offering the opportunity to lead, drive change, and shape the future of the business. Responsibilities include:
1. Managing and leading department heads in Production, Materials, and Engineering, with 5 direct reports and approximately 100 indirect reports.
2. Developing high-performance teams and skills matrices for ongoing development.
3. Overseeing daily operations, planning, and collaboration to streamline workflows and optimise production.
4. Ensuring timely, quality delivery of orders, meeting lead times, and maintaining customer satisfaction.
5. Identifying improvement areas, reducing indirect time, and ensuring a right first-time approach to maintain standards.
6. Promoting a safe working environment by adhering to health and safety standards and fostering a safety culture.
Candidate Profile
To succeed as Operations Director, you should have:
* Experience managing operations in a high-value, low-volume precision engineering environment.
* Management experience overseeing teams of around 100 employees, including appraisals and development.
* Strong knowledge of best practices and the ability to introduce innovative ideas.
* Commercial awareness, with a focus on on-time delivery and proactive planning.
* Leadership skills to develop people, engage teams, and build a positive team culture.
