Are you looking for a senior leadership role that offers purpose, flexibility, and influence? THE ROLE Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day management of a well-established local charity. Inspire, motivate and support employees and volunteers to perform at their best. Work closely with the Chair and Trustee Board to ensure strong governance and compliance. Lead the development and delivery of annual business and operational plans. Drive a significant increase in income across multiple fundraising streams. Oversee fundraising strategy including community, corporate, events, and trusts & foundations. Act as the public face of the charity, building profile, reach and influence across the region. Ensure the effective management of grants supporting local cancer research. Oversee HR, finance, IT, health & safety and risk management functions. Manage budgets, financial reporting, audits, and internal controls. Ensure all legal, regulatory, and policy requirements are met. WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT HERE Salary: £60,000 – £65,000 FTE (pro-rata for part time), dependent on experience Flexibility: Part-time role (4–5 days per week) with some flexibility in hours Location: Office based in Leicester with travel across Leicestershire, Rutland & Northamptonshire Holidays: 25 days annual leave (FTE, pro-rata) plus statutory holidays Contract: Permanent role offering stability and long-term impact Purpose: Play a central role in funding and promoting vital local cancer research Development: Ongoing training, monthly performance reviews, six-monthly reviews and annual appraisal Culture: Supportive, mission-driven environment with a strong sense of teamwork and shared values WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR Senior leadership or chief officer experience, ideally within the charity or voluntary sector Proven experience developing and delivering strategy, business plans and organisational policies. Strong financial acumen, including budget management, reporting and working with auditors. Direct experience of fundraising across events, corporate, community and trusts & foundations Experience managing both paid staff and volunteers, including appraisals and objective setting. Strong governance knowledge and experience working with Trustee Boards Excellent communication, networking and stakeholder-management skills Ability to represent the organisation professionally across healthcare, business and academic settings. High level of emotional intelligence and resilience when dealing with sensitive situations. Strong organisational, administrative and IT skills (MS Office essential) Full UK driving licence and access to a car. Flexible approach, including occasional unsocial hours and travel.
