Language Development Assistant
Location: Peripatetic across Flintshire Schools
Salary Range £23,656 to £24,404 FTE
Pay award pending
27.5 hours per week Term Time Only, temporary
The LA is seeking to appoint a committed teaching assistant to work in collaboration with schools, officers and parents to further develop and extend the language skills of pupils within the Foundation Phase. This may include refugees and other pupils for whom English is an additional language.
Key responsibilities will include supporting curriculum access, modelling appropriate language patterns and employing effective strategies to improve the language outcomes of both monolingual and bilingual pupils. An empathetic approach to children learning English as an additional language is essential, as is respect for individual pupils’ language, culture and religion. Knowledge of strategies to support language development with either EAL pupils or pupils with specific language needs would be beneficial.
