Overview
Are you a recent Psychology graduate eager to make a difference in young people's lives? Are you interested in gaining meaningful, school-based experience before progressing into a career in educational psychology, therapy, or teaching?
We’re currently recruiting full-time SEN Support Assistants to work within a specialist SEN school in the WF7 area, supporting pupils in Key Stage 2 and 3 (ages 7–14). This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate looking to explore the world of special educational needs and behaviour support in a real-world setting.
Please note: This role is best suited to candidates living in or near Pontefract for easy access, especially if travelling via public transport. If you're further afield, a full UK driving licence is essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with autism, ADHD, and SEMH needs
* Help implement behaviour and emotional regulation strategies tailored to individual pupils
* Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure inclusive and accessible learning
* Foster a nurturing and positive classroom environment
* Apply your academic knowledge to help children overcome social and learning barriers
What We’re Looking For
* A degree in Psychology (or related field such as Sociology, Criminology, or Education)
* Passionate about supporting children with additional and complex needs
* Patient, understanding, and emotionally resilient
* Previous experience in youth work, care, or school settings is a plus but not essential
* Available to work Monday to Friday during term-time
