Environmental Support Worker - Main Theatre

If so, we'd love you to join our Main Theatre team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals as an Environmental Support Worker.
In this role, you will:
* Maintain Theatre Cleanliness & Standards: carry out cleaning of theatres and associated areas in line with Trust policies and infection control standards, complete and record cleaning schedules accurately, and inspect areas to ensure standards are met and escalated as necessary.
* Support a Safe Environment: monitor theatre areas for environmental or safety issues, ensure faults are recorded and escalated, complete Datix reports where required, and adhere to Health & Safety and infection control guidelines at all times.
* Equipment & Ancillary Area Cleaning: clean medical equipment according to manufacturers’ instructions and Trust procedures, maintain cleanliness of storerooms, kitchens, and nonclinical fridges, and ensure all documentation and checklists are completed.
* Suction & Gas Cylinder Checks: replace and dispose of suction canisters safely, check, store and replenish gas cylinders, ensuring adequate supply for daily theatre use, and report any irregularities or safety concerns promptly.
* Waste Management: work with portering and ancillary teams to ensure correct waste segregation and disposal, support inspections of dirty returns areas and escalated concerns, and follow Trust protocols for sharps, needlestick incidents and body fluid contamination.
* Communication & Team Support: communicate effectively with theatre staff about cleanliness, safety, and environmental issues and ensure concerns are escalated appropriately through the Theatre Coordinator.
* Training & Personal Development: participate in appraisal and maintain a personal development plan, complete mandatory training and maintain competency with relevant equipment.
Qualifications & Education
* Essential: Basic General Education.
* Desirable: Basic IT Skills, GCSE Maths & English grade C/4 or above or Functional/Key skills level 2 in Maths and English, prior experience working in a theatre setting, basic understanding of infection control principles.
Knowledge & Experience
* Essential: Understanding of the concept and application of confidentiality.
* Desirable: Previous experience of working in a theatre setting and basic understanding of infection control principles.
