Responsibilities

* Support the delivery of delegated elements of the annual business plan and outcomes to deadlines and budget.
* Assist the Design Manager in presenting design review data/key performance indicators (KPIs) to project and sub‑function leadership.
* Work with team members to provide operational delivery of the team/regional strategy and work winning activities.
* Assist in ensuring the management system and whole project roles and responsibilities are followed.
* Contribute to activities reported in management reviews, collating, analysing, and presenting data and key metrics.
* Provide general administration to support the effective operation of design management within a project team.
* Collaborate towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, interpreting and comparing performance information to select compliant materials, components and parts.
* Use technical literature and other sources of information and data to support the design process.
* Produce design and technical drawings, designs, and models using analytical and computer‑based software packages.
* Produce technical design solutions.
* Comply with industry standards, CDM, statutory regulation, legislation, policies, and codes of practice.
* Comply with health, safety and welfare regulations, standards, and guidance.
* Complete risk assessments to identify, evaluate and mitigate risk.
* Apply principles of sustainable development and assess impact.
* Apply ethical and data‑security principles to design projects.
* Prepare written design reports.
* Interact with the operation and maintenance of a Common Data Environment (CDE) and ensure it maintains integrity, follows agreed protocols and protects data security.
* Handle information by validating, managing, disseminating and storing throughout all stages of a project or asset.
* Identify design defects and solve problems to advise a compliant outcome, escalating issues or concerns as necessary.
* Apply quality assurance techniques.
* Use computer‑based software systems and packages to manage construction projects, e.g., BIM tools, data analytics, and databases.
* Conduct site inspections of designs and report findings.
* Comply with sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance, including the management and designing out of waste.
* Optimise energy use through design of efficient fabric, passive and active design solutions, low‑energy lighting, building controls, and energy performance.
* Optimise site potential and building space.
* Communicate with internal and external stakeholders using sector‑specific terminology.
* Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
* Apply project management techniques, such as project budgets, estimating, cost control, cost forecasting, and investment appraisal.
* Interpret and extract relevant information from drawings, specifications and work instructions, including BIM and other task‑specific modelling software.
* Apply mathematical, statistical and data‑interpretation tools, using analytical and computational methods to interpret and solve technical, engineering and design problems.


Qualifications

* GCSE in 5 subjects including Maths and English (grade 4/C).
* A Level in any subject (grade 96 UCAS Points). Share any other relevant qualifications and industry experience; the apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Compensation & Benefits

£22,200 a year. Check minimum wage rates. A permanent role from the moment you join. Travel allowance to cover expenses between your home, workplace and place of study. Training course: Construction Design and Build Technician (Level 4). Exact shifts TBC – our site teams typically start early and finish in the late afternoon, so adaptability and energy are key. It’s a fast‑paced environment where you’ll see the results of your work taking shape every day.

Hours: 37 hours a week. Start date: Monday 7 September 2026. Duration: 4 years.
