Howdens Joinery, the UK’s number one Trade Kitchen Supplier, is seeking to hire a creative and innovative Head of Online to lead on all aspects of our digital presence and performance. This includes eCommerce and digital trading, SEO, paid media acquisition, digital content and editorial, email marketing, online reviews, and the overall online customer journey across web and mobile platforms. In this leadership role, you will set the vision and strategy for our online experience, ensuring that it delivers against commercial goals, supports brand equity and offers an intuitive experience for every customer. Based in our Raunds, Northamptonshire office four days a week and one day working from home. Reporting to the Marketing Director, this is a great opportunity to influence and steer the next phase of digital in a FTSE 100, decentralised business. What we can offer you as a Head of Online - Highly competitive benefits package with a performance related bonus scheme (up to 75%) - Company Car or car allowance - Private medical family health insurance - Award winning pension scheme (company contribution of up to 12%) - 25 days holiday bank holidays per year and opportunity to buy extra holidays. - On-site subsidised restaurant - Cycle to work scheme - Share save scheme. - Exceptional reward and recognition events What you’ll be doing as Head of Online - Defining and delivering a clear online vision and roadmap to improve customer journeys and drive digital performance - Leading and optimising the eCommerce platform and digital trading to deliver against conversion and revenue KPIs - Overseeing all digital acquisition activity (paid search, paid social, SEO), ensuring cost-effective growth in quality traffic - Owning and evolving the email marketing programme – ensuring customer journeys are personalised, timely, and support commercial and brand objectives - Directing digital content and editorial strategies that support seasonal campaigns, always-on storytelling, and SEO performance - Driving continual optimisation of the customer experience across web and mobile platforms, using data and user insights to identify and implement improvements - Leading the strategy for online reviews and customer reputation management, driving review volume and sentiment while feeding insight back into the business - Collaborating closely with IT, Product, and UX teams to improve the digital infrastructure, design, and functionality - Championing best practice in UX, accessibility, and performance to ensure inclusive and high-performing digital experiences - Tracking and reporting on digital KPIs, identifying opportunities to scale what works and test new initiatives - Acting as the digital subject matter expert across the business, influencing and aligning key stakeholders What you’ll need as a Head of Online - Proven experience in a leadership role leading a digital or eCommerce function in a multi-channel or retail environment. - Degree educated or equivalent experience in Digital Marketing, Business, eCommerce or related field. - Exceptional people management skills, capable of navigating and leading change. - Strong background in SEO, paid media, and performance marketing - Demonstrable success managing CRM and email marketing strategies at scale - Familiarity with customer experience and online review management tools - Data-literate and insight-driven with experience using tools such as Google Analytics, GA4, CRM platforms, and heatmapping software - Experience managing budgets and delivering commercial results from digital initiatives - UX-savvy with a customer-first mindset - Excellent project and stakeholder management skills - Confident, collaborative, and proactive - Naturally curious, always looking to improve and innovate - Resilient and able to work at pace in a fast-moving environment - Both creative and analytically driven About Howdens: As the UK’s leading trade kitchen supplier, Howdens proudly supports over 460,000 trade professionals through our network of 900 depots.
