The post holders will support the development, delivery, and evaluation of effective internal and external communications for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS). They will play a key role in ensuring clear, timely, and consistent messaging to staff, stakeholders, the public, and the media, in line with Trust objectives and values. Key Responsibilities Media & Public Relations Draft press releases, statements, and responses to media enquiries. Act as a first point of contact for media queries, escalating as appropriate. Support the promotion of Trust initiatives, campaigns, and public health messaging. Internal Communications Produce staff newsletters, bulletins, and updates using a variety of channels. Support the development of engaging intranet and digital content. Work with managers to ensure effective staff communication and feedback mechanisms. Digital & Social Media Manage and update Trust social media accounts, ensuring content is accurate, engaging, and timely. Monitor online engagement and contribute to developing strategies to improve reach. Campaigns & Events Assist in planning and delivering communication campaigns for organisational priorities. Provide communications support for events, launches, and public engagement activities. General Duties Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders. Contribute to crisis communications planning and delivery when required. Ensure all communications adhere to Trust policies, accessibility standards, and statutory requirements. Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade and nature of the role. Essential Criteria Degree or equivalent qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a related field, OR minimum 3 years relevant communications experience. Demonstrable experience in media handling, press release drafting, or journalism. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to tailor content for different audiences. Experience of managing digital and social media channels in a professional capacity. Excellent organisational skills, with ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams. Desirable Criteria Experience of working in a healthcare, public sector, or emergency services environment. Experience of supporting crisis or emergency communications. Knowledge of graphic design, video editing, or digital content creation tools. Additional Information The role will require flexibility, including occasional out-of-hours work to support urgent communications.
