Salary: FTE £24,027 - £24,404 per annum, Pro-rata £9,022 - £9,329 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday 7:00 - 10:00 (they will consider different hours to suit the right candidate)
The Primary School and Nursery are members of the Education Trust, an expanding multi-academy trust with 13 primary and 9 secondary schools.
The Role
The school caretaker reports to the headteacher and office manager, responsible for security management of both school sites, maintaining the school buildings and outdoor areas, ensuring furniture, fittings, and outdoor play equipment are safe and compliant with HSE standards, and maintaining the school's appearance inside and outside.
The job activities are categorized into Site and Security, Preparing Facilities, Maintenance and Repairs, and Monitoring Work.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as a key holder and handle minor security/safety issues, including contractor access during school holidays.
* Prepare the school site, premises, rooms, and work areas, including operation of heating and lighting.
* Conduct monthly Legionella testing (training provided).
* Perform weekly flushing testing.
* Inspect and record monthly play equipment condition.
* Test fire alarms weekly at both sites.
* Perform porterage duties and assist with setting up furniture and equipment for activities.
* Undertake basic DIY tasks as a competent handyman.
* Report major repair needs to the Office Manager.
* Interact helpfully and sensitively with staff, parents, pupils, and visitors.
* Meet and oversee contractors and deliveries during holidays.
* Maintain awareness of health and safety policies, understand COSHH regulations, and keep records as required.
* Willing to undertake relevant training.
* Attend meetings with the Schools Property Maintenance Adviser and prepare maintenance schedules as needed.
