Construction Manager – Thames Water Region (London / Guildford – Hybrid Working Available)
Finlay Jude Associates is recruiting on behalf of a leading organisation in the Wastewater Industry to strengthen their Construction Team with a Construction Manager supporting projects within the Thames Water region, working from London and Guildford locations with potential hybrid working available.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Construction Manager will oversee the safe and compliant delivery of construction activities across a portfolio of projects. The role will focus on health, safety, environmental and sustainability management, while leading site teams and supply chain partners to ensure construction activities meet project deliverables, programme requirements, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage site construction teams across designated project portfolios, ensuring projects are delivered within approved budgets and agreed timescales.
* Facilitate construction project kick-off meetings and lead regular project health checks to ensure delivery performance.
* Manage the performance of suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring standards relating to safety, programme, and quality are consistently achieved.
* Review and approve Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) to ensure they are suitable and compliant with project requirements.
* Lead Constructability Reviews, Project Rehearsals, and Fit for Assembly sign‑off processes to promote efficiency, innovation, and improved delivery performance.
* Promote sustainability by driving initiatives focused on zero waste and reducing embodied carbon across construction activities.
* Ensure site teams raise relevant contractual and commercial notices in a timely manner to support effective project management.
* Work closely with the Lead Construction Manager to plan and coordinate short‑term and long‑term resource requirements, including labour, plant, and materials.
* Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety standards, fostering a positive safety culture where teams feel confident to raise concerns and contribute to improvements.
* Support the adoption of standardised products and innovative construction techniques to maintain industry‑leading delivery performance.
About The Candidate
The successful candidate will have extensive experience managing construction delivery within large‑scale infrastructure programmes, ideally within the water or utilities sector. They will be a confident leader with strong organisational and communication skills, capable of managing multidisciplinary teams and supply chain partners to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Temporary Works experience or relevant qualification.
* Proven project management experience within construction environments.
* Degree (or equivalent) in a construction‑related discipline.
* APMP qualification or equivalent.
* Extensive experience delivering large‑scale construction programmes.
* Experience within the water or wastewater treatment sector.
* Experience managing and monitoring project programmes and schedules.
* Strong knowledge of CDM regulations and construction Health & Safety.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and end users.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate multidisciplinary teams and drive delivery performance.
* Commercial awareness with a strong understanding of project delivery within a contractual framework.
