Job Summary
The Nurse Specialist for Reducing Restrictive Practice (RRP) will lead and develop a least restrictive, evidence-based, person‑centred culture within GMMH. The postholder will set, maintain and advance professional standards for clinical staff across in‑patient and community services, and support clinical teams caring for service users with high‑level needs requiring specialist input. The role functions as an autonomous practitioner providing advanced expert clinical nursing practice.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the delivery of the Trust’s Least Restrictive Practice Strategy 2026‑2029.
* Demonstrate codesign and coproduction skills throughout the workplan.
* Apply in-depth knowledge of the Use of Force Act 2018 and associated legal obligations in mental health units.
* Support clinical teams via the PMVA training programme, ensuring compliance with NHS England standards and Restraint Reduction Network Standards.
* Develop and deliver the Trust’s RRP educational programme across Care Groups.
* Review and analyse data to ensure quality information, feed national databases, and establish improvement programmes.
* Lead emerging clinical practice, promote research, and uphold high standards of Nursing and Professional Practice in in‑patient and community services.
