Overview
Service Care Legal are working with a local authority based in Sussex who are looking for an experienced Contracts & Procurement Solicitor to join its Legal Services team on an interim basis while a permanent appointment is recruited. You'll act as a key legal adviser to officers across the Council, supporting a wide range of contracts and procurement projects and ensuring compliance with procurement law and council governance.

Role: Contracts & Procurement Lawyer
Location: Sussex / hybrid (1 day per week in the office)
Contract: Ongoing pending permanent recruitment
Rate: GBP55.00ph umbrella / GBP48.46ph PAYE inc. holiday pay / GBP43.24ph PAYE exc. holiday pay
The Role
* Draft and negotiate commercial and public sector contracts including SLAs, funding agreements, inter-authority agreements, and JCT/NEC construction contracts
* Provide legal advice throughout the procurement process
* Assess and manage legal risk and support compliant procurement strategies
* Work closely with legal, procurement and governance teams across the authority
The Person
* Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive
* Previous local authority experience for this role would be essential
* Strong experience in contracts and procurement law
* Confident advising officers and managing your own caseload
