Shift Supervisor Hours: AM Shift: MondayFriday, 06:3014:30 PM Shift: MondayFriday, 09:0017:00 Location: Thrapston Reports to: Operations Manager Salary: £32,000 - £40,000 DOE Role Overview The Shift Supervisor is responsible for the safe, accurate and efficient day-to-day running of warehouse operations. This role leads teams across inbound, outbound, returns and quality activities, ensuring standards, KPIs and health & safety requirements are consistently met. Shift Supervisors take operational ownership of the site when senior management is not present and promote a coaching-led, high-performance culture. Key Responsibilities Open and close the site safely when required. Supervise teams, work areas and equipment across all operational zones. Ensure full compliance with health & safety legislation and company standards. Maintain site security and manage access for visitors, drivers and contractors. Lead daily operations including Goods In, Putaway, Despatch, Returns and QA. Allocate labour effectively in line with daily plans and workload. Monitor KPIs, accuracy, productivity and OTIF performance. Escalate risks, delays or operational issues promptly. Coach, support and develop team members, including new starters. Drive continuous improvement, efficiency and cost control without compromising safety or service. Skills & Experience Required Previous experience supervising teams in a warehouse or distribution environment. Strong knowledge of health & safety and safe systems of work. Confident, hands-on leadership and clear communication skills. Calm, practical problem-solving approach. Flexible and reliable, especially during peak periods.
