To offer patients, clinical staff, attached and external agencies an efficient, reliable, and courteous reception service, and to provide administrative support to the practice in order that it may function effectively, in accordance with practice policy on confidentiality. Responsibilities include:
1. Reception Services to Patients: Ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the reception area, acting as the first contact with the practice, and representing the surgery positively.
2. Registering new patients, including their induction and optional assessments, and distributing practice information.
3. Handling patient queries, managing appointments, and ensuring timely and safe patient care.
4. Processing medical mail, prescriptions, specimens, and liaising with external services like pharmacies.
5. Managing telephone services, including appointment booking, addressing queries, and signposting to services.
6. Using communication systems such as EMIS, message books, and emails to support daily operations.
7. Supporting team activities, sharing knowledge, and contributing to practice projects and protocols.
Additional details include the importance of supporting the practice during high response periods, and the necessity for adaptability, including driving between multiple practice locations. The role is based at Holmcroft Surgery, with support at Keele Practice, Moss Green Surgery, and Moorcroft Medical Centre in Hanley.
