Job location: SHI UK Nexus office as determined by SHI management. Reports to the IDCS manager.

Responsibilities

* Be the technical expert to a group of build technicians, providing support to move the team toward successful project completion.
* Decipher customer documentation and specifications to translate a logical construct into a physical build, including component quantities and configurations.
* Direct rack and stack of hardware into cabinets in accordance with customer elevation documentation.
* Learn customer labeling processes and naming standards for power and network; meet quality control expectations for labelling.
* Conduct power testing and address DOAs by debugging and opening tickets with appropriate hardware vendors as necessary.
* Collaborate with automation team to create and deploy scripts for hardware verification and to populate output files.
* Assist the IDCS manager with QC checks by reviewing builds to ensure they meet specifications.
* Attend internal meetings to report status on current build projects.
* Provide skills training and mentoring to build technicians in collaboration with the wider IDCS team.
* Work with Documentation Specialist to create and maintain up-to-date project documentation.
* Coordinate with warehouse teams on crating status and any delays affecting shipping schedules; provide support as required.
* Process staged inventory and order modifications with Sales and warehouse staff; address issues and updates as needed.
* Apply Gemba Lean processes to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
* Support other departments as required by management.

Skill Level Requirements

* Ability to decipher technical documentation and translate into physical builds; communicate technical detail to team members.

* Ability to work with multiple resources under tight deadlines while maintaining professionalism.
* Technical problem-solving skills; ability to complete configurations (firmware upgrades, network settings, vendor-specific settings).
* Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to work with multiple global teams on concurrent rack integration projects.
* Ability to transfer knowledge between environments and convey cross-discipline skills for a new working environment.
* Identify process enhancements in build/quality control/hardware verification processes.
* Ability to support QC operations as workload requires.


Preferred Skills

* HPE / Dell / Cisco configuration.
* Experience in an Integration Data Centre Services organization or similar background.
* Ability to bring disparate teams together toward a common goal.
* Positive approach to challenging technical issues; provide creative, out-of-the-box solutions while managing risk and timelines.


Other Requirements

* Minimum 2 years of experience in an Integration Data Centre Services organization or equivalent background.
* Experience with hardware/software from Lenovo, IBM, HP, Dell, Supermicro, Cisco, Juniper, Pure, Fortinet (or similar).
* Willingness to work extended hours to complete projects and meet deadlines.
* Business hours are typically Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00 with a 30-minute lunch; due to international projects, occasional after-hours availability is required.
