Job description We are seeking a proactive Teaching Assistant to provide specific 1:1 support for a learner in Year 1. The focus of this role is to help our learner access the curriculum, manage their daily routine, and develop their independence. Our learner has very limited communication skills. Demonstrates a passion for music and the outdoors. Key Responsibilities 1:1 Support: Support a Year 1 learner accessing learning. This includes managing transitions, implementing sensory breaks, and utilising visual timetables to reduce anxiety. Academic Support: Deliver daily 1:1 sessions in Phonics, Literacy, and Numeracy, following the teacher's adapted planning to meet his needs. Social & Emotional: Support the learner’s social interaction with peers during break times and group work, modelling positive play and communication. Collaboration: Work closely with the Class Teacher and SENCO to review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and adapt resources to suit the child’s specific learning style. The Ideal Candidate: We are looking for someone who is patient, resilient, and passionate about inclusive education. You should have: Experience working with SEND learners and an understanding of sensory needs and potential triggers. The ability to build a strong, trusting bond with a specific child while maintaining professional boundaries. A team-player attitude, essential for working in a small school environment. Hours are 25 per week term time only, to be worked 9.00am – 2.30pm Monday to Friday. This is a fixed term role linked to an EHCP. The closing date is 24th April.
