A prestigious international law firm is looking for a qualified Conflicts Lawyer to join their Risk & Compliance team in London. This is a newly created position.
The Conflicts Lawyer will work closely with partners, legal teams, and compliance colleagues across multiple jurisdictions to analyse and resolve complex conflict issues, enabling the firm to take on new matters while managing associated risks.
Key Responsibilities for the Conflicts Lawyer role:
* Review and analyse new client and matter requests to identify potential legal and commercial conflicts of interest.
* Provide clear and concise advice to lawyers and management on conflict issues under the SRA Code of Conduct, professional rules, and internal firm policies.
* Propose practical solutions for resolving conflicts, including the use of information barriers, waivers, and internal protocols; ensure decisions are documented appropriately.
* Liaise with partners, fee earners, Risk & Compliance, and other internal stakeholders across the firm’s international offices.
* Assist in developing and refining conflicts-checking procedures and systems to ensure consistent, efficient, and compliant processes.
* Contribute to internal training and awareness initiatives related to conflicts, confidentiality, and risk management best practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with PQE, within a conflicts role at a law firm.
* Strong understanding of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) rules, particularly relating to conflicts and confidentiality.
* Experience in advising on complex conflicts, including multi-jurisdictional issues, preferred.
* Familiarity with conflicts software (e.g., Intapp Open) and client onboarding processes desirable.
