Overview
A personal assistant is required to support a 14-year-old girl living in Wadebridge. She has a genetic disorder and developmental delays and would like someone who she can build up a positive relationship with and provide her with some 1:1 support.
She would like someone to support her with her communication and gaining independence with life skills. She loves technology, swimming and visiting theme parks. A personal assistant will enable her to enjoy activities in her local community and with her family.
Details
Up to 7 hours per week are available, and this is flexible. Mainly weekend and school holiday availability will be required. The starting rate of pay is £12.60 per hour. Some knowledge or personal experience of working with young people is essential. A full driving licence is desirable.
Responsibilities
* Support the young person with communication and life skills to gain independence.
* Provide 1:1 support and build a positive relationship with her.
* Enable participation in activities in the local community and with family, including technology-related activities, swimming and visits to theme parks as appropriate.
* Adhere to safeguarding requirements and comply with the family’s processes.
Requirements
* Some knowledge or personal experience of working with young people is essential.
* A full driving licence is desirable.
* Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check (through the administration process by Cornwall Council).

This is a rewarding opportunity to help a young person grow, gain independence, and make a meaningful difference in their life. The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family and not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.
