Impact Associate Role at EBRD

The Impact Associate is part of the Impact department, responsible for implementing the Bank’s mandate to promote transition in the EBRD’s countries of operations (COOs). Collaborating closely with the Banking department and other Bank groups, the role involves executing the Bank’s transition impact architecture and supporting an integrated system of assessment, monitoring, and knowledge management to maximize impact and communicate it effectively.


Accountabilities & Responsibilities

1. Appraise and monitor investment projects and TCs for their impact on transition, including sector portfolio performance, aligned with the Bank’s transition mandate.
2. Contribute to weekly project reviews for the Operations Committee and other sector-related committees, including transition ratings and impact benchmarks, and assess sector transition gaps for evaluations.
3. Prepare management briefings, including responses to DAQs, and develop presentations and reports for Board and Committee meetings.
4. Support the Associate Director on sector and cross-cutting issues, including developing transition impact methodology and communicating SDGs and development agendas.
5. Review sector transition indicators and methodologies related to transition impact.
6. Conduct background research, draft briefings, presentations, and sector analyses as needed.
7. Maintain relevant datasets.


Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

* Master’s degree in economics or a related field (relevant work experience and a strong Bachelor’s may be considered).
* Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
* Prior experience in the Food and Agribusiness sector.
* Experience in project design and appraisal.
* Understanding of EBRD mandate, strategic objectives, investments, TCs, and transition impact methodology.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to understand basic credit analysis.
* Strong analytical and quantitative skills, proficiency in Excel; familiarity with other analytical software is a plus.
* Knowledge of the EBRD region and regional work experience is advantageous.
* Knowledge of regional languages is a plus.
