Job Description
Reporting to a Senior Product Manager, the Product Manager will be crucial in defining and measuring the success metrics for our access control management solution, with a key focus on supporting international growth. This role involves close collaboration with engineering to ensure development delivers market value and achieves business goals for the access control solution. A critical component of this role is working closely with the international sales organization, providing the necessary support to ensure the compelling and cohesive delivery of the Avigilon end-to-end solution worldwide. Specifically, we seek a talented product manager to lead the strategy for the maintenance and administration of the overall access control solution. The Product Manager is also responsible for developing and maintaining a big-picture vision and roadmap that supports the Company’s strategic goals. The role requires validating and developing ideas based on industry experience and contact with customers and stakeholders. The ideal candidate must possess a blend of business and technical skills and enjoy spending time in the market to understand the customers’ needs.
Basic Requirements
Market:
1. Being the voice of the market and customer within the organization.
2. Ensuring internal stakeholders clearly understand product requirements through clear elaboration of the customer problems to be solved, use cases being addressed, and documentation of the results expected.
3. Deeply understanding the competitive environment and our product competitive position.
Product roadmap
4. Establishing clear product/feature vision – the who, what, why, where, and when (but not the how) and champion that within the organization and ensure all project decisions are consistent with that vision
5. Development and maintenance of the business case for each project including revenue projections and project ROI
Product Lifecycle
6. Managing a product through the entire product life cycle from initial concept, launch, maintenance and product end-of-life
7. Continually monitor product performance and take action accordingly
8. Guide product introduction to ensure impactful and effective product launches
9. Provide input to product pricing strategy and product pricing
10. Maintain product pricelist
Sales Support
11. Assist sales and technical support in finding answers to questions about the product and how it should be positioned to address specific customer problems
12. In collaboration with Product Marketing, ensure sales tools and technical collateral are sufficient to enable the channel to successfully position the product
Qualifications:
13. Exceptional critical thinker, decisive, ability to anticipate market trends, evaluate tradeoffs and risk in a manner that results in a well thought out strategy.
14. Technically competent in the relevant product domain. Prior product experience with mobile apps, hybrid on-premises & cloud software solutions, and/or video security applications considered a strong asset.
15. Strong analytical skills are required.
16. Strong oral communication skills. Able to effectively present ideas, roadmap elements, status updates and/or proposals to upper levels of management, including non-technical staff.
17. Exceptional written communication skills in support of vision, market, business and functional requirements.
18. Exceptional relationship skills that support strong sustained interaction both externally (with customers, prospects, and vendors) as well as internally (with sales, marketing, and the engineering organization).
19. Ability to work well independently and as part of a diverse team spread across multiple continents in a fast-moving environment.
20. Applicants need to be able to travel domestically and internationally, about 10% to 20% (5 - 8 trips / year).
