Job Title: Traffic and Transportation Strategic Lead

Pay rate: £27.80 per hour PAYE
Role length: Anticipated 6 months
Working Arrangement: Hybrid working but office attendance is encouraged
The role: As the Strategic Lead for Traffic and Transportation you will play a part in making positive changes, unlocking investment and grant allocations while supporting the business.Collaborating closely with key stakeholders and external partners to deliver the Council’s Traffic and Transportation Service, you will source all funding streams for the delivery of the Local Highway Plan strategy, working with the Head of Highways and Transportation in collaborating closely with the Greater Lincolnshire Mayoral Combined Authority and securing investment to achieve outcomes in line with council plans. Key responsibilities:
Lead a multi-disciplinary group of staff to deliver functions in street works, traffic and road safety and transport Champion a safety-first approach for all staff and work sites Provide leadership and support to ensure a community-based approach to the delivery of the traffic and transport service, improving elected member and community satisfaction Respond to and report on complex traffic and transport issues and provide expert advice and guidance on what traffic and transport improvements can be achieved within budgetary, best practice and legislative constraints Provide a local community focus for all traffic and transport activity, identifying, prioritising and commissioning delivery to ensure contract compliance, quality and value for money Develop strategic relationships with a wide range of partners. Working collaboratively with key stakeholders (internal and external), to develop strong and effective relationships and deliver desired outcomes Maximising business opportunities through convincing business cases, showing value for money and efficiency savings and supporting teams to deliver Develop and deliver innovative solutions to address the net zero aspiration, including strategies for decarbonisation and sustainable transport What the client is looking for:
Minimum of Level 6 qualification (or equivalent experience) in a relevant technical field, with proven post-qualification expertise Management professional qualification or significant experience Member of professional body (IHE/ ICE/ IHT etc) Significant experience in a Local Transport Authority or similar setting, with strong grasp of governance, regulation, and operations Track record of strategic leadership and building high-performing, motivated teams Proven ability to drive innovation on net zero, including decarbonisation and sustainable transport strategies Experience of developing, presenting and implementing transport strategies Excellent knowledge of traffic and transport related legislation, delivery, and best practice Strong relationship builder, experienced in stakeholder engagement and negotiation Able to align transport plans with wider economic and land-use strategies Excellent communicator with strengths in influencing, problem-solving, project delivery, and team leadership Knowledge of the strategic transport implications of development proposals, ensuring alignment with local and regional transport objectives and sustainability goals Clear understanding of transport’s role in driving economic growth and meeting future demand How to Apply:
