Platts Agriculture Ltd is looking for an ambitious and forward-thinking individual to join our exciting Knowledge Transfer Partnership with Bangor University's Biocomposites Centre.
The successful candidate will be based at Platt's Head Office in Wrexham with joint supervision and access to staff expertise, knowledge, and facilities at Bangor University.
The project will develop in-house material characterisation, establish product testing standards, and create an internal R,D&I pathway in Platts Agriculture.
The role is expected to commence on 1st October 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Whilst the project is initially for a fixed term for 2 years, subject to successful outcomes, we are looking to make the role a permanent position.
Your Responsibilities
The postholder will be responsible for leading and delivering a research and development project with commercial significance through transferring and embedding academic expertise.
The role will be a combination of office, laboratory, and factory working as part of the project delivery. A typical working week may include attending/leading project meetings; validating experimental methods in the lab; working closely with manufacturing teams to plan developments; and building relationships with material suppliers, regulators, and clients to drive product improvements.
What we are looking for
Candidates should be educated to postgraduate standard (or equivalent) and have previous experience of material science, ideally with a focus on natural products.
The successful candidate will be an ambitious professional with a desire to grow within Platts Agriculture as an expert and leader in the field of agricultural R,D&I with experience of characterisation or testing of materials and experience of working with data. Ability and enthusiasm for Knowledge Transfer are also essential.
