We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager – Waste Transport Logistics to join our team in West Yorkshire and lead front‑line waste collection, recycling, and cleansing services across multiple depots.
Role Overview
* Job Title: Operations Manager – Waste Transport Logistics
* Location: West Yorkshire (on‑site and hybrid work)
* Contract: Fixed Term Contract (initially 6 months, possibly 12 months)
* Target Salary: £60‑65k per annum (depends on experience)
* Sector: Waste Management, Collection, Recycling, Transport, Environmental Services, Facilities Contracts Management
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage large‑scale waste collection, recycling and operational cleansing operations across multiple depots in West Yorkshire.
* Ensure safe, compliant and efficient service delivery across a diverse front‑line operations workforce.
* Drive operational performance, service improvement and resource optimisation.
* Oversee daily deployment of teams, vehicles and equipment in a fast‑paced environment.
* Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, communities and external partners.
* Champion a positive health & safety culture.
* Contribute to long‑term service planning and transformation projects.
Qualifications
* Proven operational management experience in waste & recycling, transport, logistics, supply chain, warehousing or local authority services.
* Strong leadership experience managing large front‑line teams across multiple sites/depots.
* Excellent understanding of health & safety, compliance and risk management.
* Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
* Full UK driving licence.
* IOSH or NEBOSH qualification preferred.
* Transport CPC licence preferred.
* Experience in trade waste, recycling or environmental services preferred.
* Experience working with unions and community groups preferred.
* Experience working with local authorities and government administration considered a strong advantage.
