Job Title: Assistant SENCO
Accountable to: Federation SENCO
Hours: 22.5 hours per week (5 mornings)
Salary: NJC Grade 5
About the Role
Carlisle Infant School and Hampton Hill Junior School Federation are seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant SENCO to support the SENCO in leading and managing provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across both schools. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to fostering an inclusive culture where all pupils with SEND have equal opportunities to thrive and succeed.
Main Purpose of the Role
Support the SENCO in the strategic and operational management of SEND provision across the federation.
Assist in promoting an inclusive ethos that aligns with our vision for every child to flourish with confidence, belonging, and a love of learning.
Contribute to the ongoing development and implementation of SEND policies and practises in line with statutory guidance and best practice.
Provide ongoing practical support and guidance with pupils and school staff across the federation, ensuring continuity of SEND provision during periods when the SENCO is based at the partner school.
Key Responsibilities
Work closely with the SENCO to identify, assess, and support pupils with SEND across both school sites.
Support the implementation, review, and monitoring of EHCPs, pupil support plans, behaviour plans, and provision maps to ensure effective interventions.
Support pupils with additional needs who may be experiencing difficulties in the classroom by identifying barriers to learning, implementing targeted interventions, and providing personalised support to help them access the curriculum and thrive.
Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff to develop, share, and model effective strategies and approaches that meet the diverse needs of pupils with SEND, promoting inclusive teaching practices and positive outcomes.
Liaise with parents/carers and external agencies to coordinate tailored support for pupils.
Assist in organising and delivering staff training to enhance inclusive practice and SEND strategies.
Maintain accurate SEND records and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
Monitor pupil progress and support data analysis to inform SEND provision and strategic planning.
Support smooth transition arrangements for pupils moving between the Infant and Junior schools or onto secondary education.
Uphold and promote the federation’s values and contribute to whole-school priorities.
