Type of contract: Full-time, project limited for 12 months
This position is part of a programme aimed at professionalising medical education and providing training doctors with teaching skills and educational expertise. It is ideal for doctors who have recently completed or are about to complete their Foundation Programme training in August 2025.
The Clinical Lecturer (Scholarship) scheme has been running for twenty-three years, targeting individuals interested in teaching and pursuing careers focused on education and training. Opportunities to engage in various aspects of undergraduate medical education will be available.
Role and Responsibilities
You will join the Institute of Education In Healthcare and Medical Sciences as part of a team supporting the medicine degree programme. The role is based at Dr. Gray’s Hospital in Elgin, with support from the MBChB Programme Lead in Aberdeen and local clinicians.
Your duties include contributing to the design, development, delivery, and assessment of undergraduate MBChB teaching, as well as clinical skills and inter-professional healthcare teaching. You will also assist in organizing exams, including OSCEs.
You may join a year team, contributing to their activities and student support, or focus on specific projects with your educational supervisor. Participation in the Curriculum Steering Group, responsible for the day-to-day management of the MBChB programme, is encouraged where possible.
Salary and Conditions
The salary will be at the appropriate point on the Clinical scale for Academics below Consultant level, ranging from £48,288 to £85,402, negotiable based on clinical experience.
