The opportunity Project: Working as part of Mace's multi-disciplinary team for the Ministry of Justice's Estate Delivery Partner to deliver their expansive programme across their estate portfolio. The programme is responding at pace to work across multiple workstreams to support the MoJs aims to gain pricing, programme, quality and social value benefits from the collaborative delivery approach. Mace has an existing in-house team of public health engineers who design and implement new build and refurbishment projects which can range widely in scale. They must be capable of undertaking condition surveys, concept planning, design development and production of drawn information for tendering through to construction stage including carrying out the inspections and ratifications of the final work. They also undertake existing property inspection, maintenance and manage upgrade and repairs contracts to existing properties. Suitably experienced and qualified public health engineers with specialist background, knowledge and experience in the following sectors would be an advantage. Due to the nature of the work security clearances will be required and a pre-requisite of this process is that the candidate has been resident in the UK for 3 years. Education Secure environments including HMP Prisons and HMCTS Courts Office refurbishments Sustainability and energy management Your responsibilities will include: Assisting in the design and delivery of building and engineering projects or groups of projects or programmes of work in order to achieve the highest quality within given timescales, budgets and statutory requirements. Providing public health engineering design services. Undertaking design public health engineering elements for new build or repair and refurbishment projects and specify systems and performance specifications and criteria. Undertaking public health design services for new build or refurbishment projects you will be able to produce public health designs that include domestic hot and cold water services distribution, above and below ground sanitary plumbing and rainwater, firefighting systems, Storm water disposal including SuDS. Supervising and coordinating the work of other engineers. Managing the production of drawings and reports and preparing public health specifications, providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior members of the team. Modelling and simulating options appraisals and feasibility studies and contribute whole life costing. Preparing reports, troubleshooting and providing advice on new and re-development projects. Working with new and emerging technology and integration with new design concepts for buildings and developing supply chains where necessary. Outputs/deliverables Undertaking the full range of activities schedule within the current RIBA "Plan of Work; Multi-Disciplinary Services" work stages 1 - 6, and its successor, and BSRIA BG6 professional services, together with any gateway review process. Producing of project plans, designs, consultee responses, work implemented on site, contributions to group working practices and development. About you You have relevant engineering qualifications and experience with the role and the project/programme of works. You are a chartered public health design engineer with proven knowledge of a building services consultancy and the full design and construction life cycle within the specific field of Public Health engineering, from concept design through to site installation, defects inspection and commissioning. You have understanding of project deliverables and RIBA stages, health and safety, cost control, value engineering and site inspections. You are digitally savvy, can build lasting client relationships. Good knowledge of MS Project, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, BIM modeling, PHE software, Revit and the BREEAM process You will have a construction or project management projects background and be hungry to grow your career and enjoy the opportunities Mace has to offer.
