Estimator - Civils / Precast Concrete Industry
Location: Ballymena
Salary: £39,000 per annum
Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Estimator to join our growing Civils team within the precast concrete and civil engineering sector. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially driven professional with extensive pricing and estimating experience who is looking to play a key role in securing major projects across the construction and infrastructure industries. Working closely with the wider estimating and sales teams, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, managing tender submissions, and supporting the successful negotiation and award of projects. The role requires excellent technical knowledge, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare accurate pricing and cost estimates for civil engineering and precast concrete projects
* Review drawings, Bills of Quantities, specifications, and tender documentation
* Complete and submit tenders within required deadlines
* Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal departments to ensure projects are delivered successfully
* Support the management of projects from tender stage through to order placement
* Negotiate professionally with clients to maximise sales opportunities and secure orders
* Attend client meetings, site visits, and industry events as required
* Assist with technical queries and provide commercially viable solutions
* Monitor project statuses, order progress, and tender activity to support business KPIs
* Maintain strong working relationships with customers and stakeholders
What We're Looking For
Essential
* Extensive estimating and pricing experience within the civil engineering, construction, or precast concrete industry
* Civil/Structural Engineering or Construction-related qualification, or equivalent industry experience
* Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical information
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
* Proven ability to manage projects and meet deadlines effectively
* Strong commercial awareness and customer-focused approach
* Excellent planning and organisational skills
* Proficient in Microsoft Office packages
* Flexible approach to work and willingness to attend client visits and trade events when required
Desirable
* 3-5 years' experience in a similar estimating role
* Experience within precast concrete manufacturing or civil engineering projects
* Experience working in a fast-paced office environment
* Knowledge of CRM systems
* Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
* Full UK driving licence
