Main duties of the job
Candidates will be joining a CQC ratedGood service, with a strong and established workforce of 15 ChildPsychiatrists in Devon and Torbay. The service is particularly interested inmodelling the job in line with the successful candidates special interest andworking preference. Devon CAMHS is part of a wider Integrated service withinChildren and Family Health Devon, delivering a range of health, social andeducation services for children and young people. We are a large andprogressive CAMH service which values diversity. We are committed to continualservice improvement, participation and the use of routine outcome measures toinform our practice. The service model aims to actively promote prevention,early intervention and opportunities for children, young people and theirfamilies to build resilience and to stay well, whilst also providing evidencebased, outcomes focussed interventions to enable children to recover, tomaintain their best quality of life and to reach their potential
This post willbe based in Barnstaple working with other consultants across a number ofpathways. Candidates can negotiate their preferred named base for purposes oftravel. There will be opportunities for the candidate to develop / pursue theirspecial interest, and provide medical leadership in an area of expertise, e.g.Eating Disorders, Neurodevelopmental disorder, Developmental Trauma etc.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full Registration with the General Medical Council.
* To hold Approved Clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
* Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview.
* Approved under section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.
* MRC Psych OR equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
* Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
* Evidence of sub-speciality or other specific training, e.g. systemic therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy.
* CCT Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Aptitudes and Values
* Evidence of ability to exercise leadership in a multi-disciplinary team.
* Ability to work collaboratively with other clinical teams.

Experience
* Prior experience working in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team.
* Experience of psychiatric practice in a range of settings, especially the community.
* Experience of audit and an understanding of the principles of clinical governance.
* Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service.
* Clinical experience in a range of services within Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
* Experience in other related specialities, e.g. psychotherapy, paediatrics.
Management
* Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and managers.
* Awareness of NHS management and funding arrangements.
* Management training / experience.
* Experience of involvement in service development.
Research
* Ability to interpret published research and to apply research findings to clinical practice.
* Aptitude for and practical experience of research.
Teaching and Supervision
* Experience of teaching undergraduates and postgraduates.
* Evidence of additional teaching skills.
* Experience as a lecturer or supervisor.
* Experience in Clinical Supervision.
