Payroll Team Leader

Hybrid working - 3 days on site, 2 home-based.
As a Team Leader, you will be working closely with senior payroll leadership to ensure the monthly UK payroll lands accurately, smoothly, and on time.
Alongside the day‑to‑day, you will drive improvements, support system changes, and champion a brilliant service experience for colleagues across the business.
The role:
Oversee end‑to‑end monthly payroll for a large, multi‑site workforce
Ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely processing
Resolve complex payroll queries with confidence and clarity
Keep payroll processes fully aligned with UK legislation
Produce regular payroll reports and insights for senior leaders
Drive engagement, performance, and continuous learning
Run regular 1:1s, team meetings, and training sessions
Skills required:
Experience managing payroll in a high‑volume, multi‑site environment
Strong working knowledge of UK payroll legislation, statutory payments, RTI, pensions, GDPR, and gender pay gap
Advanced Excel skills (vlookups, pivots) and solid Microsoft capability
A sharp eye for detail and a logical, solutions‑focused approach
