We’re supporting a forward-thinking, high-growth organisation in the search for a Head of Development, a strategic leadership role with real influence across technology, product, and business direction.

The Opportunity As Head of Development, you will take full ownership of the development function, setting the vision, driving delivery, and building a culture of excellence.
You’ll work closely with senior leadership to align technical strategy with commercial goals, while empowering teams to innovate, scale, and deliver at pace.
With a flexible model requiring monthly visits to Leeds city centre, this role offers both autonomy and meaningful collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
* Define and lead the development strategy, architecture, and technical roadmap Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing engineering team.
* Drive best practices across coding standards, CI/CD, testing, and delivery Oversee the development lifecycle, from concept through to deployment and optimisation
* Collaborate with Product, Design, and senior stakeholders to deliver business-critical solutions Ensure systems are scalable, secure, and future-proof Identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement
What We’re Looking For:
* Proven experience in a Head of Development / Engineering leadership role
* Strong technical background with hands-on understanding of modern development stacks Experience scaling teams and delivering complex digital platforms or products
* A strategic mindset with the ability to translate vision into execution
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
* Passion for building teams, improving processes, and driving high standards
