Spire Alexandra Hospital is seeking a Bank Pharmacy Assistant for a bank contract to support our Pharmacy Department during busy periods, cover annual leave, sickness, and peak times. The role is ad‑hoc on an “as and when required” basis.
Main duties
* Assist the pharmacy team in providing an exemplary pharmacy service to the hospital and its patients, working within your level of competence
* Contribute to the safe and effective use of medicines
* Undertake routine delegated activities accurately and in line with current legislation, professional standards and Spire Healthcare policies and procedures
* Prepare yourself, equipment, materials and medicines appropriately for specific tasks
* Accurately dispense medicines according to prescriptions, ensuring all items are checked by a pharmacist
* Prepare small batches of prepacked and/or overlabelled medicines as required, ensuring pharmacist verification
* Accurately record data and information relating to activities and ensure this is passed to the appropriate team member or filed correctly
* Identify and report any significant changes within the pharmacy department or service that may impact patient health and wellbeing
Qualifications
* Previous experience within a pharmacy department (hospital or community)
* Strong teamworking skills
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Highly numerate and literate
* Administrative experience involving checking and monitoring processes
* Ability to handle sensitive and challenging situations in a professional and supportive manner
