Head of Nursing – Planned Pathways Division

About the role
We are seeking an experienced and visionary nursing leader to join our Planned Pathways Division, leading nursing excellence across our Care Groups. This pivotal leadership position provides strategic and operational oversight for nursing across a diverse range of services, including peri‑operative medicine, theatres, critical care, high dependency units, day surgery, general surgery, upper GI, vascular, urology, paediatric surgery, SDEC, oncology, haematology, systemic anti‑cancer therapy and the Williams Day Unit.
You will lead a team of senior nurses and matrons, ensuring the delivery of safe, compassionate, and high‑quality care. Working closely with divisional and corporate colleagues, you will drive innovation, workforce development, and continuous improvement across all services.

Key responsibilities
Leadership and governance of nursing services across the division; strategic planning and implementation of nursing standards; innovation and workforce development; continuous improvement and audit; collaboration with multidisciplinary teams; fostering a culture of inclusivity, patient experience and staff wellbeing.
What we’re looking for
* Significant experience in senior nursing leadership (Band 8a or above)
* Proven ability to lead complex clinical services and multidisciplinary teams
* Strong understanding of clinical governance, NHS policy and regulatory frameworks
* Values‑driven leader who champions inclusivity, patient experience and staff wellbeing
