Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Location: Remote, based in the UK or US
Package - $100,000 to $150,000 per annum
We're looking for a proactive, hands-on COO to help scale our fast-growing DTC pet brand. With every purchase we’re helping shelter dogs in need.
As our COO, you'll be the engine behind our operations - spotting bottlenecks before they become problems, making sure our team is aligned, and ensuring the business runs like a machine.
What You'll Do
* Identify and fix fires fast: You're someone who spots issues before they escalate - and solves them immediately.
* Own operations: Oversee and guide our supply chain manager and customer service manager, ensuring they hit their targets and stay focused.
* Ensure team clarity and accountability: Make sure every team member knows their role, responsibilities, and KPIs. You’ll streamline team processes and make sure we stay organized as we grow.
* Keep us on track: Make sure department goals align with company-wide growth targets and that nothing slips through the cracks.
* Drive operational excellence: Improve systems, processes, and internal communication to keep the business running at peak performance.
Who You Are
* 2+ years experience in leading operations at a DTC brand doing $10M+ in annual revenue
* A self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
* Obsessed with clarity, systems, and execution
* Calm under pressure with a "get it done" mindset
* Experienced managing remote teams and cross-functional departments
Needed:
* Experience scaling operations from 8 to 9 figures for other Ecom D2B brands
Bonus if you have
* Experience with tools like Monday.com and Gorgias
🧭 COO SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:
* Every team knows what they own, what success looks like, and how to hit it
* Operations run without chaos - even in peak season or new launches
* The CEO can focus on growth, product, brand, and vision
* Company hits yearly revenue and profitability targets without burning out
🔥 1. Fire Prevention > Firefighting
I don’t just want someone who reacts well - I want someone who sees problems coming and solves them before they impact growth.
This includes:
* Fixing weak supply chain links before stockouts happen
* Spotting underperforming team members or agencies early
* Noticing when marketing ops, CS, or product are misaligned
📊 2. KPI-Obsessed & Outcome-Driven
A great COO knows what levers to pull. They don’t drown in dashboards - they own a handful of north-star KPIs and ruthlessly align people, systems, and tools to hit them.
They ask:
* Are CAC and inventory turnover balanced?
* Are we spending too much time on things that don’t move revenue?
* Is each department driving its own OKRs or just busy?
🧠 3. Strategic Operator, Not Just a Task Manager
This is the phase where you build your leadership team and transition from doing → managing → leading.
Your COO should:
* Build systems that scale, not just patch holes
* Map out org structure that can grow with the business
* Hold leaders accountable without micromanaging
🤝 4. Knows When to Roll Up Sleeves & When to Delegate
From 8 to 9 figures, you're still in the messy middle. You need someone who:
* Can lead a meeting with logistics partners at 9am
* Jump into a CS system to solve a refund crisis at 10am
* And review org structure for Q4 hiring by noon
They need to be ruthlessly efficient and deeply operational—but also know how to scale themselves out over time.
🚀 5. Has Done It (Or Helped Do It) Before
I’d only hire someone who’s been inside an 8 or 9-figure brand and:
* Scaled teams (not just managed existing ones)
* Built cross-department accountability
* Handled messy supply chains and optimized margin across ops
* Knows what systems break at each stage of growth - and how to fix them fast
✅ The COO Would Be Responsible For:
* Supply chain & fulfilment
* Customer service
* Cross-functional team structure
* Weekly KPI tracking and reporting
* Spotting & solving friction that limits scale (internally or externally)
We’re not hiring a coordinator. We’re hiring the glue, compass, and pressure relief valve for our entire company.
Benefits
* Fully remote, ideally based in the UK or US
* Package - $100,000 to $150,000 per annum
* Opportunity to earn a stake in the business long term
* The chance to work with (and build) one of the fastest growing companies in the US!
