Job Description
Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate its Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone company, DePuy Synthes, within the next 18–24 months. Upon completion of the transaction, you will become an employee of DePuy Synthes and be subject to its employment processes, policies and benefit plans.
About The Role
Act as the global technical lead for all Surface Modification processes—including coatings and mechanical/energy‑based surface technologies—within the organization. Report to the Global Director of Manufacturing Innovation and drive step‑change improvements across all manufacturing sites.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the goes‑to expert for Surface Modification/Coating processes across all sites, approve and endorse process changes, ensuring compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
* Drive global process standardisation and optimisation, communicate improvements, maintain global validation strategies, and support process‑specific audits.
* Provide technical support and governance on existing initiatives, collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
* Own the technology roadmap, develop and update the global strategy, monitor external market, competitor and technology trends.
* Build capability by ensuring investment, infrastructure, capital and talent are in place for technology execution.
* Support development of new programme charters, providing guidance on timelines, costs, risks and benefits.
* Collect, analyse and report process metrics, aligning insights with overall business metrics.
Experience, Skills & Proficiencies Required
* Qualification or equivalent experience in Engineering, Science, Manufacturing, Production and/or Operations Management.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Passion for leading significant change initiatives with breakthrough results.
* Strong customer relationship management and ability to spot opportunities.
* Proven business experience in regulated manufacturing, programme delivery and/or people management.
* Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, technologies and innovation ecosystems (desired).
